IVF programs in GMS IVF provide a complex of diagnostic and treatment procedures which are used for treatment of male, female and combined infertility.

IVF — In Vitro Fertilization is a modern high-tech effective method of infertility treatment. The procedure involves growing oocytes (eggs) in the female body, then the eggs are collected (retrieved) from the ovaries by puncturing them through the posterior vaginal fornix, then collected eggs are fertilized by a spouse (or donor’s) sperm in a lab. In the lab, the embryos are cultivated in the nutrient medium and then are implanted to the woman’s uterus.

When to consider IVF?

A couple may think about using IVF for a number of reasons, including:

• Tubal-peritoneal infertility factor (problems with the fallopian tubes, fallopian tube obstruction);
• Ovarian factor (diminished ovarian reserve);
• Male factor infertility (low sperm count, weak movement of sperm, semen abnormalities);
• Unexplained infertility (in spite of full clinical examination of a couple, no cause of infertility was identified);
• A genetic disorder (if one of the partners is at risk of passing on a genetic disorder to a child, they might consider conducting preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). After the eggs are harvested and fertilized, they can be screened for certain genetic problems, and those that do not contain identified problems can be transferred to the uterus);
• Fertility preservation for cancer or other health conditions (if one of the partners is planning to start cancer treatment that could harm fertility, IVF for fertility preservation may be an option).
